About this job design simulation
Cedarline: Redesigning Work for Reliable Delivery is a free job analysis and job design simulation for strategic HRM courses. You are the HR project lead at Cedarline Manufacturing, a fictional Ontario company, leading a 90-day redesign of order and production coordination across three sites.
Employees report unclear roles, incomplete handoffs and heavy workloads, but the evidence is incomplete: a diary study is only a preliminary signal and many job documents have not been reviewed in years. You make five connected decisions about evidence, roles, competencies, sustainable work and team coordination, and watch four organizational indicators respond.
What you will practise
- Using job-analysis evidence and recognizing its limits
- Clarifying roles and writing competency profiles
- Redesigning work so it is sustainable, not just faster
- Coordinating a cross-functional pilot
- Explaining and defending your reasoning
Created for Strategic Human Resources Management, Chapter 4. It ends with a personalized report you can print or submit. See all Strategic HRM simulations or all free simulations.
